What is glossoepiglottic fold?

The glossoepiglottic fold is a small fold of tissue located in the throat at the base of the tongue and near the epiglottis, which is a flap of tissue that protects the airway during swallowing. The glossoepiglottic fold separates the tongue from the epiglottis and helps to prevent food and liquids from entering the airway. It also assists in forming the entrance to the larynx.
